Presidents Message
February 2017

Greetings,

By Tuesday, the Super Bowl will be in the past and it is once again time for you to head on down to the IPMS Phoenix monthly meeting. We continue to be near capacity which is
a good thing. That means more modelers are wanting to take part in being with the club. Please continue to welcome them and introduce them to the club and what it can offer.

Following along with part 1 of Jim Pearsall’s kit sale benefiting Bob Laserin’s widow, Jim will be back with round 2 in February.

Attached to the newsletter is a sheet listing all the kits that will be available for purchase. Many of you were kind enough to take a few off Jim’s hands last month. Please do what you can to help Bob’s widow this month and next.

Also, Volunteer season is underway. We had a great turnout for the Conley Elem.
Aviation Club last week. If you missed it there will be a couple of opportunities listed in the Corsair where you can help out and introduce others to the club.

See you Tuesday.

You keep building, Phoenix!

Meeting called together promptly at 7:00pm.

Guests & new attendies/membors were welcomed. We greeted our visitor and the rest of the group (which was substantial).

Officer reports included Craig Pierce with the listing of models for the raffle tonight.

Hal did the minutes, and Ethan reported on the Facebook page. He always welcomes suggestions.

Craig Bucklin reported on the improvements to the website, including the Modelzona
results.

Memberships are due, a big $12, the best bargain in modeling. Please see Tim as soon as possible, and update any changes in your directory info, as we are going to print another directory shortly.

Jim Pearsall had a portion of the collection from our recently deceased member, Bob Laserin, here tonight and was doing brisk sales. Tonight’s sales were only about a third of the total kits, so there’s more to come.

Mike discussed the need for presentation presenters, if you have any ideas, please let him know.

The Christmas party turned out well, everyone seemed to have a good time, thanks to Mike Mackowski.

Member of the year was Tim Bongard; Rookie of the Year was Lynn Gorton.
Modeler of the year was Jim Pearsall, and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Wendell Rogers.

Mike introduced Patrick Arnold as our new monthly contest coordinator.

The Connelly Make & Take should be coming off in a couple of weeks, Mike will let us know.

New Business; the Makerfest will be held on March 11; we still don’t know if we’ll have a make & take yet, but we will have a booth.

Tim Bongard suggested that we get a small, tabletop PA system to aid those who are hard of hearing. Research will be done and reported on next week.

Our contest tonight was won by Bill Sanborn with his beautiful Japanese
Kate torpedo bomber.
